The AI Frenzy
2025 was the year of AI. It was everywhere. The dominant topic of conversation in tech and business.
CEOs of LLM companies made hyperbolic predictions: Anthropic's founder claimed all code would be written by AI within 12 months; Sam Altman promised "teams of PhDs" in your pocket with GPT-5. Neither materialized—GPT-5 was merely incremental despite the bold marketing, and we're still far from having all code written by AI, if that will ever actually become a reality. Benchmarks across models have converged this year, with improvements no longer as transformational as GPT-2 to GPT-3.
Big tech leaders advised against hiring until companies maximized AI use among existing staff. Stock prices soared, new models emerged constantly, fueling competition within the industry and with China (DeepSeek). All of this was sometimes mixed with apocalyptic rhetoric—doomsday predictions such as 'AI 2027' that have already proven inaccurate. Thankfully, we're still here, boosting productivity with AI tools rather than fearing it.
The models market has shifted dramatically. In 2024, OpenAI held a dominant position. By 2025, Claude and Gemini had gained significant ground—Claude is now used by 52% of Y Combinator founders, with ChatGPT and Gemini competing for second, down from ChatGPT's staggering 90% the year before. This competition has driven remarkable improvements, and we're eager to see what 2026 brings.
Leveling Up
Work Hero increased revenue by 40% and expanded its team by 9 hires, representing approximately 30% team growth. We have begun collaborating with award-winning agencies, which motivates us to continue to grow and develop our technical expertise. We have also established partnerships with a sales team based in Portugal and a U.S.-based AI ad agency, both of which have been doing exceptional work.
This year, we look forward to growing the company by taking on more challenging projects, building new partnerships, expanding our social media presence, and exploring platforms like Shopify—all of which advance our vision to remain the premier solution for web agencies.
Virtual to Real
The cherry on top event the year was our first-ever in-person meetup in Buenos Aires, which brought our team together. Our Latin American team met in Buenos Aires, Argentina, for a 3-day retreat packed with activities: city walking tours, bike tours, parrilla restaurants, a Tango show, bowling, paintball, and even an asado prepared by our Argentinian teammates at the Airbnb. For more details, check out Paulo's blog.
It was an event that brought us much closer together and marked the beginning of our company retreats. In 2026, we'll have a meetup in the Philippines with our Asian team and, if all goes well, another Latin American gathering in Floripa, Brazil, at the end of the year.
We wish you a successful 2026—may we achieve many dreams and accomplishments together.
Onward!
